Florida Keys Back Country Fishing

My SUV of the backcountry and nearshore waters around the Florida Keys is a versatile 2025 26′ Contender bay boat with a Yamaha 350 four-stroke and has a 13″ draft but enough size to fish the Oceanside. This boat can comfortably accommodate up to 4 anglers or a family of 5, providing a safe and comfortable ride even on the windy days. We can target snook, redfish, tarpon, permit, trout in the backcountry or head out in the Atlantic to catch a variety of snapper, grouper, mackerel, jacks or even tuna and sailfish. This boat is equipped with twin 10′ Power-pole hydraulic anchors and a 36 volt Power-pole Move trolling motor for stalking fish in the shallows and anchoring in the ocean.

When it comes to tackle, my equipment is comprised of top-of-the-line Penn reels matched with Penn and Fenwick rods. I primarily use light spinning tackle whenever possible to make the fight exponentially more enjoyable. When it comes to catching large tarpon, grouper and sharks, heavier tackle will be needed to handle these hard fighters. Whatever you decide to go catch, Capt. Lain will have the right equipment to compliment the Contender bay boat!
