Review from TripAdvisor.com:
I hired Captain Lain Goodwin of Dirty Waters Charters for the past three years for fishing in the Florida back-country near the Everglades. The man knows how to put you on fish. On our most recent I achieved my first back-country slam (Snook, Redfish and Trout). The Snook in the Everglades area were devastated by a freeze a few years ago and I was on a mission to catch my first. I caught seven Snook during our outing in addition to more reds and trout than I can remember.
There seems to be no end to the locations he can find that are beautiful and have great fishing. During our hours on the water, I learned to identify the type of fish based on their wakes in the skinny waters. I sharpened my casting skills and really felt in the hunt for the fish. It was exciting, rewarding and memorable. I highly recommend Captain Lain. Great gear, great times and tight lines!

Lain,
I just wanted to tell you what a great time I had fishing with you and the Allingtons’ last Sunday. You are the consummate professional and have great patience. You got me “hooked’ on fishing the Everglades and the salt. I have every intention of coming back next spring and fishing with you again. I hope to get the chance to use my fly rod and possibly do the “Grand Slam”.
Thanks for a great time and some super memories. Have a great season, and we’ll stay in touch.
All the Best,
Jim Palmer

Captain Lain,
I just want to thank you for a great day of fishing last week. I hope the rest of your birthday turned out as well as the fishing did. The day showed a lot of promise from the beginning as we had no trouble filling the live well with bait after only two casts of the net. I never imagined we would catch upwards of 40 snook in the first few hours and also three trout between 4 and 6 lbs to boot. That in it self would have been a phenomenal day of fishing, but that was just the morning.
The highlight of the day for me occurred when we ventured out of the Everglades and into tarpon territory. The tarpon were only 15-25 lbs, but caching fish that fight like that on 6# test line is something every angler should experience at least once in their life. I appreciate the fact that you showed up promptly at 7:00 AM and at 3:00 PM after a full day of fishing, we were still hooking fish with no mention about packing it in until I was ready to go. Another point I’d like to mention is how impressed I am with your concern for the environment and the fish that we were catching. You took the time to make sure every fish released (and there were a lot of them) was ready to go in order to help further the sport and the fish population. The weather conditions may not have been ideal with it being so windy, but you used it to our advantage. Hopefully next time I am in Florida it will be a little calmer and we can get into some bonefish.
Thanks again for a great day, hope to see you on my next visit to Florida.
Pat

I booked an inshore charter with Capt. Lain Goodwin – DirtyWatersCharters.com This was a father son trip, long weekend – he is 15 now and we usually spend a few days fishing on our trips.
This was by far the best fishing trip we ever had. Captain lain works hard to find the fish and mixes it up so you can experience different kind of fishing if you want.
Thie first day we caught a wide variety of fish; redfish, grouper, snapper, and had a great time with a bunch of big Crevalle Jacks – one of the hardest fighting fish I have ever caught. And then to cap of the day – he took us to his favorite Tarpon spot and my son caught a big Tarpon – about 65lbs or so. Something he will remember for long time. We kept a few of the Snappers – as area restaurants will cook your catch – although they hit you up for $15 – it was still nice to dine on something you caught.
The next day we went Speckled Trout fishing to mix it up a bit – and we caught a bunch – I would say at least 20 to 25 each.
Captain Lain was also our make shift tour guide – gave us ideas on what to do and where to get the best burger in the keys – Buzzards Roost. Captain Lain is a great guy to spend some time with on the water – very easy going and knowledgeable, I would have enjoyed my time on the water with him – even if we were not catching fish.
This will be our annual fishing trip destination – great variety of fishing and we will only book a trip with Captain Lain. If you are planning on doing any fishing in the Florida keys, book a trip with Captain Lain – as you will not be disappointed.
